Random glimpses into the thoughts of a woman- searching for life's answers - or maybe just asking the questions and living them. Trying to live creatively and authentically. Learning to BE - HERE - NOW.
Soon these leaves will fall to the ground. Signs of autumn are appearing. The morning light is softer, air is cooler. I love the subtle changes that take awareness. I am practicing BE HERE NOW. Seems like such a simple thing -and yet so difficult. Always thinking of what's next?, and 'but what if?", not "This is NOW".
This is the loom my husband built for me. I taught myself to weave with it. I found it very soothing to weave after I figured out how to actually do it. The most difficult part was attempting to warp the loom. That required some serious thought!!!
Growing up in New Mexico (my parents owned a trading post) I was always intrigued and fascinated with the process and the beautiful works of art the weavers created. The intricate details and rich colors. Perhaps I will post some photos of rugs I have.
The feel and smell of wool as you weave is sensory overload. And the colors of yarn! I would love to have sheep in my back yard and be able to shear them, wash the wool, and dye it myself. Don't think we are zoned for that!
It requires focus to weave. I've been lacking that focus in the last few years. Yet, I can feel it coming back and my loom is calling to me. This loom can only make small rugs. I call them doll-house size! My own small rugs are beginners attempts but I do so enjoy the process. I love the patterns and the hypnotic sound of the comb.
What a fun weekend : ) I had time to play - worked on several different projects. Then this evening decided to make a quick book for fun using paint chips. Good practice for me. Each time I try something new I learn better by creating it again and again.
Hope you had a great weekend and hope the coming week is full of enjoyment!
A journal page - I'm so thrilled that I am taking the time to play and create -
It has even entered my dreams - last night I had this vivid dream with all these wonderful bright colors in paintings and flowers. In my dream I was trying to take pictures of them so I could remember them when I woke up!!! I do remember the colors - now to incorporate them into my artwork
I hope your dreams are taking flight and carrying you thru your day!
